Walk around Sofia or where to walk around the capital... The choice is large - mountains, dams, beautiful eco-paths... The truth is that Sofia is a unique city, surrounded by unique nature! Here are 5 amazing places that we recommend for a walk around Sofia...

1. Dragalevo Monastery

Dragalev monastery "Assumption", also known as "Holy Virgin Vitoshka" is located only about a kilometer away from the famous Dragalevtsi district of Sofia, at the foot of Mt. Vitosha. The story goes that the monastery was founded by Tsar Ivan Alexander and managed to survive the conquest by the Ottomans in the 14th century. The surrounding nature is picturesque, thanks to the many beech forests and the Dragalevska river that surround it. And the road to "Aleko" hut and Cherni vrah passes through this place. An interesting fact is that even Aleko Konstantinov wrote about the beauty of this area. The writer associates the Dragalevo forest with "breath and coolness", "the enchanting noise of the foaming stream and nightingales". That's why you won't go wrong if you walk to the Orthodox church above Sofia, which the skirts of Vitosha managed to preserve over the centuries!
