In May 2025, Batak Dam will once again bring together fans of sport fishing. In the period from May 2 to 5 the second edition of the competition will be held “Carp Competition 2025”, organized by The National Association for the Development of Water Bodies.

The event combines the spirit of sport with responsibility towards nature – all proceeds will be used for stocking the dam with fish, as part of a broader initiative to restore and maintain the region's fish wealth.

What can we expect from the competition?

They are planned 30 sectors to participate, with the possibility of expansion under suitable water conditions. There has already been interest from additional teams, which will be included if suitable conditions are available. The participation fee is 200 BGN. per team.

Cups and material prizes are provided for the winners:

  • First, second and third place

  • Biggest fish caught

Preparations are on schedule, with the organizers actively communicating with participants and supporters. Special attention is being paid to logistics and support during the event - the Rakitovo municipality will provide containers and waste removal, and media coverage will be entrusted to the “Feel Bulgaria” platform.

Stocking up before the competition

Collected so far 6000 BGN are invested in the purchase of 770 kg of carp with an average weight of 150–200 grams. Stocking will take place between April 1 and 4, 2025, with the exact date to be announced later. There is an ambition to increase the quantity to 1 ton, which requires about 1500 BGN, which organizers hope to collect by the end of March.
