On May 5, 2025, the second edition of one of the most exciting carp competitions in the country ended - Carp Competition 2025 on the dam. Batak, organized by The National Watershed Development Association (NWDA)The event brought together in one place 32 teams from all over Bulgariawho competed in a competition filled with emotions, challenges and unpredictable twists.

Last minute challenge
The conditions of dam put even the most experienced competitors to the test. Despite the extremely difficult fishing, the excellent weather and the continuous motivation of the teams turned the event into a real celebration for carp fishing enthusiasts. 15 fish were caught, and the intrigue remained until the very end.

Winners and trophies
Carp team Geshevi won first place with a total catch of 17,505 kg. Immediately after them came Fuyl carp team, who, in addition to the silver, also won the title of the biggest fish in the competition – a carp weighing 13,480 kg. Third place went to Carp Team Alaska with 13,235 kg.

Cleaning with meaning
As part of the campaign, a mass clean-up was also organized on the shore of the Batak Dam. During the preparation for the event, volunteers and members of the NSRW collected over 15 bags of waste, mostly small trash accumulated from the last clean-up last year.
"Unfortunately, this year the coast was even more seriously polluted," said the organizers, who also put up information signs about the initiative. "Clear me."to encourage responsible behavior among visitors.
An appeal to everyone: Keep nature clean! Don't throw waste into nature - let's create a more beautiful and sustainable place for recreation and fishing together.
Stocking fish – caring for the future
On April 26, 2025, as part of the competition, the eighth consecutive stocking of the Batak Dam was carried out, this time with the help of “Fishing Mania” store – PlovdivThe donated amount of 9240 leva allowed the release of 1085 kg of grass carp – over 2000 fish that are already swimming in the dam.
The National Fisheries Agency appeals to fishermen:
"The grass carp is an expensive and hard-to-find stock. Batak Dam is in dire need of it – let's protect it! If you catch one, let it be given life again."
Another stocking is coming up - with one ton of carp, planned for next week.
