In our section "Feel Bulgaria with…" today we meet you with a smiling and positive girl who will give us some great ideas for a walk in Bulgaria. Her name is Marilyn Bozhilova and here is what she says about herself:

My name is Marilyn Bozhilova - dreamer, adventurer and traveler. Ever since I was a child, the desire to discover and study everything around me has settled comfortably in me. I keep every such moment, both in my mind and in photos that remind me of the emotion I experienced. Nature always charges me, inspires me and fills my soul with indescribable feeling. And living in Bulgaria, full of natural and cultural riches, is just a privilege that I boldly take advantage of. Every place, known and not so famous, has its own story that deserves to be told. So, travel and photography found the perfect crossroads, which turned out to be my inspiration, a way to feel Bulgaria and tell stories through footage.

Here are 5 beautiful ones destinations of which Marilyn will lead us in this post…

№ 1

Cave womb

Пещера утробата
Cave womb

The name of the cave comes from its type - female genitalia. Initially, the rock crevasse was much smaller and narrower. However, with the intervention of a human hand, its depth gradually increases from 16 m to 22 m. At the bottom of the cave, our ancestors carved an altar resembling a uterus. It is said that every year on the day of the spring solstice, a ray of sunlight passes through the entrance of the cave, which reaches the bottom and "fertilizes the vulva".

The cave is located 23 km from Kardzhali, on the road to the village of Nenkovo. Passing Borovitsa Hotel, located on the shores of Kardzhali Dam, just after it on the right there is a sign and a path. The transition to the cave takes about an hour or so. I advise you to prepare yourself with comfortable shoes, water and wide open eyes for beautiful views.

The stone mushrooms

The stone mushrooms are rock formations that are located near the village of Beli Plast, in the area of the town of Kardzhali. Their formation dates back to the Paleogene, when it was all a seabed. They are then reshaped as a result of the action of water and wind. Their height is about 2.5 meters and the same width. On the mushrooms you can see different shades of color that resemble pink stumps and greenish hats. Each color shade in them is composed of a different mineral. Precisely because of the presence of one of these minerals - clinoptilolite, it is believed that the rock phenomenon has cleansing and healing properties.

Unfortunately, little by little, the google of mushrooms is crumbling and it is not known how long they will be in their best shape. This was one of the reasons to visit this natural landmark and I recommend everyone else to do it - this is a great destination for a walk in Bulgaria.

The Devil's Path in the Rhodopes

If you have not visited the Devil's Path, I recommend that you correct this mistake.
You will enjoy both beautiful scenery and an extreme experience.

Route: there are two circles: Small circle with a length of 3.8 km and Large circle - 10.2 km

We tackled the Small Circle because the time we started this adventure was 5pm ? And yes, meeting the sunset and darkness in the forest definitely adds to the overall feeling and emotion around this place.? For the Great Circle, more time should be allowed, but it's still relative because it depends on how fast you go, how much you stop for photos, etc. I'm already making plans to go back again…?

For the Small Circle, it took us about 3-4 hours, and it includes the most attractive points of the trail - the Devil's Bridge and the Hidden Waterfalls. In some places there are difficult, but not impossible to cross sections. You will encounter steep wooden stairs, narrow paths, rope climbs. Meega yako! The views are unique and the energy is indescribable.

Panoramic alley Steps in Razlog

This twelve-meter tower is located on Golak Hill and is a great idea for a walk and rest in nature. The ascent to the highest point is super pleasant and easy, and on the trail there are separate places for recreation, as well as information boards for the curious. The place offers an exceptional view of the city and the three majestic mountains - Rila, Pirin and Rhodopes. ⛰️

Baikushevata Mura

Baikusheva fir is the oldest coniferous tree in Bulgaria. Its age is 1300 years, and its location is in Pirin, near the hut Banderitsa (10-15 km from Bansko). ⛰️
The tree was discovered by Konstantin Baikushev, and its name was given by Yonko Vaptsarov (Nikola Vaptsarov's father). The story of the blackberry is interesting and worth getting to know. Just imagine what this tree has witnessed - creation, ups and downs and development of Bulgaria. It stands there in good times and not so good, preserving history?

Finally, we can only thank the great Marilyn for the beauties she shows us - we will continue to follow her Instagram profile / @merilinbozhilova / with interest, and we are sure that she will show us many more great places to walk around the beautiful places of Bulgaria. Follow it and you for fresh ideas for travel and a good time.
