Here are our favorite eco-trails in Bulgaria:
Canyon on the waterfalls eco-trail, Smolyan
An extremely beautiful eco-trail that is not difficult to cross. You will move in the unique Rhodopes and you will pass about 20 waterfalls of different sizes. The eco-trail is located near the town of Smolyan, and is extremely beautiful in autumn. At the end of the trail there is an incredible view of the city Smolyan. The direction to reach the eco-trail is to the village of Mugla. There are many signs, and you can always ask the locals - they are extremely kind and will guide you.
The vase eco-trail
The vase eco-trail reveals so much beauty and at the same time reminds of other times. The story of Vazov's inspiration, the stories with meaning and life through the eyes of "Grandpa Yotso watches." The beauty of The Iskar gorge infects, and the colors of autumn create a vivid picture that leaves you speechless. If you haven't followed in Vazov's footsteps yet, this season is definitely worth a lot! It starts from the village of Bov and reaches Skaklya waterfall. The eco-trail it is not difficult but there is still an area with a lot of climbing before the waterfall. We recommend visiting it in the spring when and the waterfall is most full of water or in the fall, when the colors of nature there are magical!
The total length of the main trail is approximately 4 km. The road winds along meanders on the river, in some places you walk on bridges over the water, in others you will find mountain shelters, fireplaces, benches and great waterfalls! It takes about 2 hours to walk the trail in both directions! At the end of the trail you climb to an old fortress - the view from there is worth it, and you can meet wild goats on the way. One of the eco-trails in Bulgaria that you should not miss to see!
