Detailed Information
The National Museum "The Radetzky Ship" is a floating museum in Bulgaria, located in the port of Kozloduy. The museum is a reconstruction of the historic steamship "Radetzky", with which the Bulgarian revolutionary Hristo Botev and his detachment crossed the Danube River in 1876 to begin the struggle for the liberation of Bulgaria from Ottoman rule. The original ship was an Austrian steamship, but today's museum is a replica, created in 1966 at the initiative of the Bulgarian public.
The ship presents authentic exhibits and reconstructions of the life of Botev and his Chetniks, telling about the significance of their work. The museum is a popular tourist site and a symbol of the Bulgarian struggle for freedom.
