Petrich is the southernmost Bulgarian city, part of a district Blagoevgrad and in fact the second largest in the district. Petrich is surrounded by the peaks of Pirin east and from the peaks of Mount Belasitsa to the southwest. An interesting fact is that Petrich celebrates his holiday in the bloom of spring - on St. George's Day.

The history preserved over the centuries is a mark of the life of the Bulgarians in the Petrich region. The city history museum will present you the history of the area visually. Here you will find objects from the era of Ottoman rule right up to the present day. This museum is one of the few Bulgarian museums where the doors are not "closed" and history continues to be written continuously. Several military monuments have been erected on the territory of the city.
Of particular interest to visitors is Samuil's fortress, located about 15 km from Petrich. There is hardly a Bulgarian who does not know the story of the Byzantine emperor Basil II (Bulgarian murderer), who defeated the troops of Tsar Samuel and blinded them. It is this fortress that is connected with these events of 1014.

Let's move on to the most interesting part for which the city of Petrich is famous, namely, Grandma Vanga. Baba Vanga is a Bulgarian prophetess from the last century, known for her incredible prophetic skills. Vanga is an outstanding prophetess worldwide. She manages to predict the future of individuals, families, groups of people, but also predicts world events, events affecting entire peoples and nations. Vanga is a phenomenon by any measure.

The Bulgarian woman lived in a house in Petrich until her last days on earth.
Today, her home has been declared a house-museum, with all the furnishings and objects remaining intact. Many Bulgarians visited Vanga during her lifetime, but if you didn't have the opportunity, you will certainly be interested to see where she welcomed her visitors, how and under what conditions this woman lived, whom we can safely define as the "miracle woman". Closely connected with her is the Rupite locality, where she welcomed her visitors in the last years of her life. This area is extremely beautiful, purely natural, and just as magical because of its history.

Belasitsa is the mountain that has the strongest influence on the nature of Petričani. The summit of Belasis, Mount Radomir, is easy to climb and allows you to admire panoramic views of Petrich, as well as the villages of Klyuch, Samuilovo and Skrut. The flora and fauna here form the Belasitsa Nature Park, which is also the newest Nature Park in our country. It is worth touching the pristine nature, cleanliness and privacy of the surrounding Osogovo-Belasishka mountain range.
