Traditional Bulgarian houses in Melnik

The boyar house is an interesting place in Melnik,

which will let your imagination run wild. It is believed that the building was the house of despot Alexius Slav, but today there is almost nothing in it. It is also called the Byzantine House, and it is an excellent choice for lovers of the mysterious and the wonderful! The Kordopul House is the house you must enter. This house has been declared the largest and most representative house from the time of the Bulgarian Renaissance. If you are interested in how and under what conditions the richest Bulgarians lived two centuries ago, take a walk around the huge palace. There are many more houses in small Melnik. Each of them carries its own history and is unique in its own way. The architecture of all the homes is more than impressive. There are also two monasteries here - "St. Charalampius" and "St. Bogoroditsa", managed to preserve as much as possible, the ancient buildings are quite interesting, and near them there is a newly built chapel, so the walk there is worth it!

Nature in this tourist center

plays an equally important role! We saved the best for last – the Melnish pyramids. Rock formations are a natural phenomenon. Each pyramid resembles something different – some resemble pyramids, some look like towers, some look like mountain peaks, and so on. Quite rightly, the Melnik pyramids have been compared to those in Egypt. Nature has definitely created a miracle, creating this work of art, and we Bulgarians are truly rich, having this gift of our land!
