A walk around Pazardzhik - what is interesting to see and where to walk around the beautiful city? In this article, we give you 5 great ideas for a walk around Pazardzhik. Here they are:

1. "Pink Vriz"

Rozovski vriz is a resort located 12 km from the town of Bratsigovo, Pazardzhik region. The area is highly preferred for recreation all year round. "Vriz" is because of the many waters that spring up and collect, and then lead to a micro-dam - Guvecha. And the definition "Rozovsky" comes from the fact that right from the entrance to the nearby village of Rozovo, visitors are greeted with planted roses, carrying a wonderful fragrance. The villa area is an excellent prerequisite for a holiday all year round. You can fish from the nearby dam, or just enjoy the crystal clear water and air. And if you find yourself here on the third Sunday of the month of July, you will come across the council that is organized every year.

2. Fortress "Peristera"

North of the town of Peshtera is the Peristera fortress. The literal translation of the name from the Greek language means "dove". It is the only one of its kind in our country. It is very likely that this dove fortress was also a Thracian sanctuary, but this has not been 100% confirmed in the excavations. The most impressive part of the whole fortress are the two towers-churches, which have no analogues in any other fortress in Bulgaria. And the biggest plus is that if the walk here is not enough for you, you could also visit the fortress above Krichim and the unique Asenev inscription.

3. Tsar Asen Mine

The mine is located above the town of Pazardzhik, in the direction of the village of Levski. This is actually an abandoned mine from the time of socialism, when it served for the extraction of non-ferrous metals. The now disused mine has turned into a large crater filled with stagnant water. But it is this stagnant water, and more specifically its blue-green color, that contributes to the impressive sight. There is a high hill nearby, from where the panorama is even more extensive. This unique place is becoming more and more popular, but you would certainly be interesting and different if you post photos from here!

4. "Lepenica" cave

It is a cake. cave, located near the city Rakitovo, Pazardzhik region. The cave is divided into three floors. An underground river flows through the first floor, there are two lakes on the second, and the third floor is dry but inaccessible. The cave is extremely beautiful. It was here that cave pearls were discovered, which were taken to the Natural History Museum in the capital. The cave fauna is particularly interesting, of which 24 species of animals are known. Six species of bats inhabit the place.

5. Museum Cars of Socialism

We find ourselves again in the city of Peshtera, where this rather different and interesting museum was created. The tourist site is extremely attractive and immerses its visitors in a bygone era. Here you can see not only cars from the period 1945-1989, but also many other items. For the older ones, the museum brings back nostalgic memories from childhood, and the younger generation observes with interest things typical of "Bai Tosh's time". On the second floor of the building, you will find the stage of the former Sofia cinema, where the most emblematic artists and singers of the last century have performed.

6. Batkun Monastery "Saints Peter and Paul"

A few kilometers southwest of Pazardzhik, in the foothills of the Rhodope Mountains near the village of Patalenitsa, is the Batkun Monastery of Saints Peter and Paul. The place brings a sense of tranquility and deep spirituality, and its history is connected with centuries of trials and rise. According to researchers, a Christian temple existed here in the Middle Ages, which in the 12th century grew into a monastery. The centuries-old vicissitudes did not pass it by - the monastery was destroyed more than once, but always rebuilt by the local people, who keep it as a symbol of faith.

Particularly impressive is the famous old vine in the courtyard of the monastery, which is believed to be one of the oldest in the region. Despite its age, it continues to bear fruit and is a kind of sign of the sustainability of this spiritual center. The monastery is a great stop for anyone who wants to feel the atmosphere of an ancient sanctuary and touch the silence of the mountain.

7. Aleko Konstantinov's Frontal Place

Between Pazardzhik and Peshtera, on the side of the road, there is a memorial site connected with the tragic death of the writer and public figure Aleko Konstantinov. On May 11, 1897, the “Lucky Man” was struck down here by a bullet intended for another passenger – an event that put an end to one of the brightest voices in Bulgarian literature and public life. Today, a monument made of white Vratsa marble has been erected at this site, surrounded by a small park with benches, where visitors can stop for a moment and pay their respects. The memorial is easily accessible, as it is located right next to the road, and is a suitable stop for anyone passing along this route. Thus, Aleko’s admirers can combine their trip with a short bow to the memory of one of the most beloved Bulgarian humorists and publicists.
