The Bulgarian village is a temple of Bulgaria. Unfortunately, however, the Bulgarian village is disappearing. Due to the urbanization and the small opportunities for livelihood and development in the village, in the last 20 years, a permanent migration to the big cities was noticed. Recently, there has been an increased interest and tendency for young people to return to their roots and the villages are starting to come alive again. There are some outstanding iconic and popular rural tourism destinations, and today we will tell you about them in this article.

Leshten is a village nestled under the peaks of the West Rhodopes. The village is part of Blagoevgrad district and is about 15 km from Gotse Delchev. From Leshten there is a unique view to Pirin. The narrow streets, along with the old houses, bear the memory and tell stories of the Bulgarian Revival. The authentic look of the restored houses recreates the spirit and atmosphere of several hundred years ago. The village of Leshten is a place where time has stopped, where peace, quiet, nature and history prevail.

Kovachevitsa

The village of Kovachevitsa is located 8 km from the village of Leshten. Kovachevitsa is another hidden beauty of The Rhodopes. The ancient houses, in which life was boiling until two centuries ago, attract tourists constantly. It is interesting that in a sense here the houses and the streets merge, because most of them are made of the same stones. The panorama in the village is no less beautiful. And it is no coincidence that in Kovachevitsa you will feel like you are in the movies "Measure according to measure" and "Men's times", because they were filmed here.
