Information
The Thracian sanctuary of Belintash is located in the heart of The Rhodopes. The rock formation bears traces of human activity. It is believed to be a cult site that dates back to the Eneolithic and was used as a place where locals performed rituals. It is possible that during the time of the Thracians, the sanctuary was dedicated to the god Sabazius. Separate parts of the rock surface resemble a map of the starry sky and a gigantic figure of a lion lying on its stomach.
