The Rhodope Mountains are so ancient and beautiful at the same time. The terrain, climatic conditions, flora and fauna here create excellent conditions for the successful development of tourism. In this article, we rely on the words of the patriarch of Bulgarian literature - Ivan Vazov: "Whoever has not seen the Rhodope Mountains in his life, he has not seen Bulgaria"...
1. Mile rocks
Milevi skali is a peak in the Alabak hill in The Western Rhodopes. The rocky peak boasts 1593m. altitude. Legends say that the rocks bear the name of the shepherd grandfather Mile, a rebellious man who called the Bulgarians to fight with his trumpet from here during the Ottoman rule. The remarkable 20-meter monument in honor of the partisans and their work after the battle of September 4, 1944 stands on Milevi Skali. The rock formation, with a breathtaking view, is accessible to both pedestrians and cars. The road by car to the top is through the village of Semchinovo, located before the gorge to Velingrad. There are several walking routes - from Dolene station, from the village of Varvara, from the Kladova hut and from the Ravno Bore hut. The view from the top provides visibility of the entire Chepinska valley, Ostrets and Arabchal peaks, and in clear weather the distant Pirin and Rila peaks can be seen. This destination is suitable for an overnight stay, a picnic or even just a breath of fresh air, but in the literal sense of the word. Just keep in mind that even on the hottest summer days, the wind can be felt here, so always bring outerwear with you!

2. Nightingale Rocks
Only about 5km west of the spa capital of the Balkans – Velingrad, the rock phenomenon "Nightingale Rocks" rises. From the very top there is a breathtaking view that reveals Velingrad as if caught in a handful. The most distinctive rock is the one that resembles a half-wreath, and be sure - you won't confuse it, because it is from it that the tricolor is waving. Archaeologists discovered interesting excavations here, thanks to which the phenomenon was included in the Archaeological Map of the country. Facts prove that in the past the site was a center of sacrificial altars, sacrificial pits and other activities. The route to Nightingale Rocks is suitable for all seasons except winter. The path starts from the famous Gergevana area of Velingrad, and there are rest areas under the rocks. Do not hesitate, take an hour or two for a walk that will take you to a place that will energize you and give you many positive emotions.
