The Rhodopes, one of the most beautiful and magical mountain regions in Bulgaria, hide many hidden treasures. One of them is Mount Syutka - little known, but full of natural beauty and legends that add to the mystical atmosphere of this area. Route
You can reach Mount Syutka both from Velingrad and from the town of Rakitovo. The walk from Velingrad is much shorter and easier and is suitable for beginners or tourists with children. The transition from Rakitovo is suitable for advanced climbers. From Velingrad you should take the direction Lepenica cave, you continue up the road and drive about 14 kilometers. There is a slight detour with a dirt road and the starting point is a forest fountain from which you have to continue on foot to the top. You will have to walk about 4 km from this point to Syutka.
After about 2 hours of moderate walking, you reach the top. Mount Syutka is 2,186 meters above sea level, making it one of the highest peaks in the Rhodopes. At the very top, in addition to enjoying the beautiful views, you can relax and admire the peace and quiet of nature.
There is a nice gazebo where you can sit and eat - don't forget to write your names in the notebook specially left there by an unknown tourist - the notebook is in a metal box under the gazebo. Stories of many tourists have been collected, so immortalize your walk to this beautiful and mystical peak in the Rhodopes.

Maiden's well
From Mount Syutka to Momin's Well / or as the local people call it "Sutkin's Well" you can reach it along a scenic path for about 30 minutes. The elevation is about 200m. but the walk and detour is definitely worth it! The well is a unique geological formation and is located exactly at 2000m. altitude, which amazes geologists. The water gushes from the spring at a constant flow both winter and summer, and the locals say that the water poured from the well does not change its properties and is wonderful to drink even after sitting for many years!

Rock phenomenon/Thracian sanctuary/ “Mushroom”
On the way to Syutka, stop and look at the rock phenomenon "Mushroom". It is located on the road itself, about 8 km. from Velingrad – when you move up to the top look to your right and you can't miss it. The place is shrouded in mysticism and legends, you can even see signs carved into the stones by outlaws or by the ancient Thracians, who seem to have used the place as an ancient observatory or to recharge with mystical energy. Legends say that right here in a line carved into the rocks flows an invisible energy beam that passes right through the middle of the mushroom. There seems to be a stone bed carved out on purpose... The locals say that a certain group of people have mastered the mysticism of the place and only they can lie down in the bed and charge their body with vital energy - for the unenlightened, this is extremely dangerous... Of course, these are all just legends that make the place even more interesting to visit…
