The monument is located above the town of Haskovo, 229 km. from Sofia. You drive right next to it and park by the road. In 15 minutes you can explore it, light a candle in the temple (if it works) and cross to see the city from above.

The idea for the monument was given by Georgi Ivanov, mayor of Haskovo Municipality from 1999 to 2015, and the project's executors are Petyo Alexandrov, Nikola Stoyanov and a team. The monument was solemnly opened on the feast of the Nativity of the Virgin on September 8 2003 and consecrated by Metropolitan Arsenius. Due to its record size and suitable location, the statue of the Holy Virgin can be seen from the whole city even in the evening.
