The Botanical Garden in Balchik

It was established in 1955 as a unit of Sofia University. It covers an area of over 190 acres and is divided into three parts: a park built during Queen Mary's time, a garden and a conservation area.
It has a huge variety of plants and impresses with incredible colors and beautifully shaped corners. A curious fact is that here is also the second largest cactus collection in Europe, after the one in the Exotic Garden in Monaco. The permanent exhibition includes unique types of cacti and succulents, which deservedly fascinate every visitor. The entire complex is built terrace-like on the steep rocks, with a wonderful view of the seashore, and the gardens are interconnected by curved staircases, bridges, paths and arches.
