Връх Околчица – Лобното място на Христо Ботев – Okolchitsa Peak, located in Stara Planina, is a holy place for Bulgarian history, as it is the birthplace of the poet and revolutionary Hristo Botev, who died for the freedom of Bulgaria in 1876. At the top, a magnificent monument was erected in his honor, which can be seen from afar and symbolizes the heroism and sacrifice of Botev and his squad. Okolchitsa is part of the 100 national tourist sites and attracts visitors and pilgrims who pay tribute to this great Bulgarian hero.
