It is located 28 km. from the city of Shumen and 79 km. from Varna.
1 km from the fortress itself is the more interesting part - the basilica, which has been restored and you can see in the photos.
There is an entrance fee – BGN 5 per adult. There are also opening hours that you can google.
The gates of the Pliska fortress can be reached by car on a nice asphalt road. Parking is free and there are plenty of spaces.
About 40 minutes will be enough for you to explore the ruins and the basilica.
We hear about the first capital of Bulgaria from children. In 681, Pliska was one of the largest cities in Europe and the world. Today, scant foundations of its former grandeur remain here.
