Easter in Bulgaria is not just a holiday \u2013 it is a feeling. The smell of kozunak in the house, a spring wind that carries the song of bells, hands stained red by eggs\u2026 This is a time when everything comes to life \u2013 nature, the soul, and most of all \u2013 hope.<\/p>\n

The light in the night<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The most magical moment comes on Saturday evening. The church is lit by hundreds of candles, people gather in front of the temple with hushed conversations and anticipation. And then at midnight it is announced: "Christ is Risen!"<\/em>. The fire passes from hand to hand, faces light up, and the night is filled with light and blessing. Everyone walks around the church with a flame in their hand, in silent homage to the miracle of the resurrection. You guard the flame from the wind, as if it were something sacred \u2013 and it really is.<\/p>\n

The eggs \u2013 a floral dance of spring<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Dyeing eggs is a whole ritual \u2013 especially if there are children at home. They laugh, get dirty, create. The first egg is always red \u2013 for health and protection. With it, grandma touches everyone\u2019s foreheads \u2013 from the youngest to the oldest. Then the real creativity begins \u2013 colorful, with petals, with wax patterns, with smiles and attempts at perfection. And then? The big bang begins! Who will win the \u201cegg fight\u201d and have health for a whole year?<\/p>\n

The Kozunak \u2013 aromatic magic<\/strong><\/h3>\n

If you've ever kneaded kozunak, you know \u2013 it's not just baking. It's an art. You knead the dough with patience, roll it into braids, add raisins or Turkish delight, and wait\u2026 And when it starts to smell throughout the house \u2013 then you know that Easter is approaching. Every bite brings warmth, as if from childhood, from the hands of mom or grandma.<\/p>\n

Lamb \u2013 the taste of tradition<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Easter table is often decorated with roasted lamb \u2013 not only because it is delicious, but because it has been that way since time immemorial. Symbolic, deep, connected to faith and the land. In some families, a whole lamb is cooked in the oven, in others \u2013 with rice, watercress, mint\u2026 But always with an aroma that says: \u201cWelcome home.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

There is something special about these days \u2013 people are more smiling, the streets are more colorful, and hearts are more open. On Sunday, relatives gather, smiles and blessings are exchanged, laughter is heard from every house. Easter is not just a rite \u2013 it is alive, it happens in the kitchen, in the living room, in the soul.<\/p>\n
