Jordan's Day, also known as Epiphany, is one of the most significant Christian holidays, celebrated on January 6. This day symbolizes the baptism of Jesus Christ in the Jordan River and is associated with many traditions and customs in Bulgaria.<\/p>\n

In the village of Dorkovo, located in the Chepina Valley of the Western Rhodopes, Jordan's Day is celebrated with special solemnity and centuries-old rituals. Local residents and guests of the village gather to participate in the traditional throwing of the cross into the waters of the Matnitsa River. Brave young people, dressed in folk costumes, throw themselves into the cold waters to retrieve the cross, believing that this will bring them health and well-being throughout the year.<\/p>\n

The hospitality of the people of Dorkovo is well known, and delicious chevermeta, ruyno wine, warm banitsi and tutmanitsi are prepared for all those present. The fun continues with a lively dance on the wide square, where locals and guests join hands in a festive dance.<\/p>\n
