As the oldest country on the continent, Bulgaria is proud of a glorious and majestic history. Bulgaria has had moments of ups and downs, but despite everything, its history makes us proud. Let's take a look at some of the most significant days in Bulgarian history...<\/p>\n

\n1. The creation of the first Bulgarian state<\/h4>\n

Every Bulgarian should know the year 681 and the event that happened then - namely the creation of today's Bulgaria. The founder of Bulgaria was Khan Asparukh - son of Khan Kubrat. The story claims that Kubrat gathered all his sons to tell them something important. The old man showed his descendants a bundle of arrows and urged them to break them - the sons failed. Khan Kubrat then took an arrow out of the sheaf and told them to try to break it - this time they succeeded. The sage's conclusion was that when his sons are united and united, they are invincible, but if they separate independently, they are doomed to ruin. Perhaps influenced by this message, his son Asparuh, together with the other brothers, after the battle of Ongla, outlined the territory of the new Bulgarian country in the distant 681.<\/p>\n

\n2. The conversion of the Bulgarians<\/h4>\n

Prince Boris I confirmed Christianity as the official religion in Bulgaria for the first time in 864-865. This had to happen, because until that moment two ethnic groups lived in Bulgaria - Slavs and Proto-Bulgarians. As ethnic groups, both had quite a few differences between them, from beliefs, traditions and customs to lifestyles. The khan thought that the new religion would unite the Bulgarians and prevent conflicts and so on between them. In addition, Bulgaria was surrounded by already more civilized countries where Christianity was the main religion. As a pagan country until that moment, Bulgaria was not equal to the others in Europe and did not have the same rights, so the Bulgarian Khan approached it quite skillfully from a political point of view. The conversion of the Bulgarians began in a narrow circle - first the family and relatives of the ruler accepted Christianity, and he himself received the title of prince. Later, the rest of the Bulgarian population was also baptized. With this event, the beginning of a united and equal Bulgaria with the rest of the countries was set!<\/p>\n

3. Bulgaria on three seas, Golden Age, Tsar Simeon I<\/h4>\n

During the reign of Tsar Simeon I, Bulgaria really achieved enviable successes. During this period, the territory of our country spread over three seas - White, Adriatic and Black Sea<\/a> - these are also the biggest limits that our country has ever reached. During the time of Simeon I, the capital was Preslav, and it was there that literature, writing and culture developed in full force. It is no coincidence that this is the era of the Golden Age in Bulgarian history, the foundations of which were laid by Tsar Simeon I \u2013 a name that will forever be remembered!<\/p>\n
